Gisela MurrellI have a M.A. in Holistic Counseling and a CAGS in Mental Health Counseling, both from Salve Regina University, Newport, RI. I also have a B.A. in International Business Administration (University of Applied Sciences Wiesbaden, Germany), and further undergraduate work in psychology and outdoor education.

Further certifications include EMDR (part 2), Past-Life Therapy Professional Training Certification by Dr. Brian & Carol Weiss, and a three month intensive training and work experience in Bild-und Gestalt Therapy (BGT) at the Forum Gilching for Holistic Psychotherapy in Munich, Germany. I am currently working towards my licensure as a clinical therapist (LMHC) in Rhode Island.

While I work with all kinds of life transitions and emotional, mental, and physical challenges, I have specialized in an area that is still neglected in the U.S.A.; the effects of twin loss in-utero and later in life. For more information on the so-called Vanishing Twin Syndrome (VTS), please consult Twin Loss. Another resource with a good questionaire can be found on Althea Haytons website at www.altheahayton.com/wombtwin/.

In private practice I take a step away from traditional 'talk' therapy and the contemporary medical model of diagnosing and fixing. Through the integration of different methods which target the body, right and left hemispheres of the mind, and spirit, we focus on establishing a healthier body-mind-spirit balance. My approach to this process evolved from my personal experience and supervised training in a variety of different techniques and teachings. Those include the Expressive Arts, Authentic Movement, Dreamwork, Energy Healing Modalities, Bach Flower Essences, Meditation, Shamanism, Systems Theory, Past Life Regression Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), BGT, Gestalt, and Psychotherapy.

My training in movement includes 8 intensive years of competitions, rehearsal, shows, and teaching (individual and group) in International Latin Ballroom. While I choose to no longer dance competetively, it is those years of training in partner dance, as well as on-going training in Authentic Movement, Salsa, Bachata, and some Tango Argentino, which have taught me the intricacies of dialogue, true connection versus felt disconnect, and authenticity in moving expression. For more information on my approach to individual Authentic Movement sessions please consult Movement.
